“Extraordinary”

Ok. I admit that I’m a bit of a procrastinator. I’ve seen and been very much into quite a few hit tv shows that fill my “me time”.. mainly during night time. However, I’ve finally decided to write, review and publish it, finally, yay! As it seems, it first aired on NBC on Jan 7, 2020, but since I only came across it just now, it being March already, I just had to express that I really enjoyed it & wish that this show is going to do very well in the future. Thumbs up to the writers for getting audiences that intrigued hook in the Pilot. And the cast is wonderful & extraordinary!

So, as my first published review, I choose: Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist. So as a warning: this is not your basic quick minute reviews. As I do tend to get into what I write, I may dwell on some subjects and matters of any kind.. so…..

Let me explain how I came across it, first of all, as to explain why my review about it, is as it is. I love musical and music and songs that I can relate to (who doesn’t, well, my husband for one, but that’s a different outlook). My husband, however, enjoyed the first twenty minutes of it & fell asleep (he works in the wee early hours of dawn). Anyways, getting back to me, as a fan of such musicals, etc., I’ve followed quite a few musical talents. One in particular as a favorite of mine: Skylar Astin. Peaceful voice & a smile that puts sun rays on a glim day.

Anyways, when he posted & raved about Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, the previews were fantastic! I couldn’t wait. I hardly comment on posts, but when I do, it’s quick yet heartfelt. So yes!! I finally watched the pilot; first episode of season 1! It made my heart beat different again because it was dramatically soulful and endearing. Especially to those who can relate to those certain situations, as those characters being played on the show, I can relate & enjoyed it very much!

In words said by Mo, “Songs are all just an expression of our deepest wants and desires; joy, pain, heartbreak, yearning, forgiveness, revenge. Good music can make you feel things you can’t express in words.” Oh my!! I’ve found my newest guilty pleasure!!!

So… The first few minutes of the show was hilarious. Then it gets emotional. And then intriguing as it introduces the rest of the family and cast members. However, being as I am, emotionally impaired, I cried when Simon (John Clarence Stuart) sang “Mad World.” And also when “True Colors” was sung by Mitch, Zoey’s dad (Peter Gallagher). However, on the fun side of things, Zoey’s colleagues song dance number was hilarious and memorable as to when Zoey said, “I wish I could tell HR about this.” “Every time I step into a building everybody’s hands go up… and they stay there!”

Yes! Let me just say, as it progressed towards the end, Zoey’s best friend coworker, Max, reveals his love that he had for her. And the boat trip with Zoey’s family to make her dad feel better was wonderful. His hand action that moved towards his wife was touching, literally. Well, let me say: I am so happy to have Hulu! Because now I’m so ready to binge watch this show! Oih!!
